From the Associated Press. A one cent copper coin minted in the first year the United States minted its own coins, 1793, sold for $1.38 million at a Florida auction. Heritage Auctions, who sold the coin, said "it was the most a United States copper coin has sold for at auction." The 1793 penny, with Lady Liberty on the face and a 13 link chain on the back originated at the Philadelphia mint.
